We encourage BSCB members to apply for one of the following positions on the BSCB committee:-
The positions will initially involve the shadowing of the current Officer/committee member to learn the role prior to formally taking over when the current Officer/committee member reaches the end of their term.
Shadow Web and Social Media Officer role – We are seeking applications from BSCB members with WordPress or web design experience as a significant part of the role would be to help with the further development of the BSCB website and keeping it up-to-date and functioning. Once the shadow period has ended, this Officer position on the BSCB committee would typically be for 4 years in line with the BSCB constitution. Shadow Science Advocacy Officer role – Applications are sought from BSCB members with an active interest and experience in science advocacy and who would like to take an active lead in shaping the role that the BSCB should play in science advocacy issues and representing the BSCB in discussions with other organisations and potential joint responses. Once the shadow period has ended, this Officer position on the BSCB committee would typically be for 4 years in line with the BSCB constitution. Shadow BSCB PhD Representative role – This role aims at representing the interests of early career members, includes attending committee meetings twice a year and organising early career researcher-focused events during annual BSCB meetings and the NextGen seminar series. It entails a light annual workload that is mostly concentrated in the days leading up to the annual meeting and comes with funding for travel and registration to the BSCB ASM. Ideally, the student should be in the first year of their PhD or second year at the time of joining the committee, enabling them to act as student representative for approximately 2 years. Please detail in your application at what year of your PhD you are currently in as following your PhD award you would be required to step-down from the committee.
